Mannok has scooped a safety award at a major transport and logistics ceremony.
Mannok was announced as the winner of the Safety Award at the annual Export & Freight Transport & Logistics Awards 2024.
The award, sponsored by Scania UK and Road Trucks, was presented at a ceremony at the Crowne Plaza in Belfast, attended by about 600 people from the transport and logistics industry.
The company was also a finalist in the Transport Manager of the Year Award category.
Gerry Clancy, health and safety manager at Mannok, said: "Ensuring the safety of everyone in our organisation is the most important thing we can do, and with that in mind, we have undertaken several safety initiatives in recent years.
"To have these recognised with this award is a brilliant achievement and a great reward for the efforts of everyone involved."
Damien McKenna, transport manager at Mannok, said: "We are delighted to have received this award in acknowledgement of all the work and investment that has gone into health and safety in the company in recent years and we’re very pleased to have this recognised by the industry."
With about 150 lorries and other mobile plant across their 11 divisions, Mannok's award was based on their commitment to the welfare of their staff, both professionally and personally.
The judges were impressed with Mannok’s investment and use of its health and safety information hub, its accreditation to ISO 45001, and the drivers’ handbook.
The company also has a nurse onsite and has set out a vision for sustaining a safety culture and embedding it as a core value of the company.
All these factors helped Mannok secure the award.
The event was organised by the Hillsborough-based publishers of Export & Freight magazine, 4SM (NI) Ltd.
First staged in 2001, the event is Ireland’s premier platform of recognition for those operating in the transport and logistics sector.
It celebrates and rewards the best in an industry that continues to meet its challenges head-on with resilience and perseverance.
