Wedding Fever hits Garrison as Gillaroo Players return to the stage Wedding Fever, the comedy by Sam Cree will take to the stage at the Gillaroo Centre in Garrison from Thursday, October 3 to Saturday, October 5, performed by the Gillaroo Players. This will be the company’s first production since 2017, and excitement is building with tickets for two of the performances already sold out.

Set in 1960’s Belfast, Wedding Fever follows the story of Myra Galbraith and Dennis Hall as they prepare to tie the knot and bring their families together for the first time. Directed by Siobhan O’Brien, the play features a cast of familiar local faces with some of the cast making their stage debuts.

In the lead roles Joseph Walsh and Louise Rasdale star as Alec and Sadie Galbraith, the parents of the bride while Gillaroo stalwart Joy Graham and newcomer Damian McGloin are the new in-laws as Mary and Patrick Hall. In his first on-stage role, Aaron Doherty will portray Dennis Hall, the groom to-be, and playing opposite him, in a return to the Gillaroo Players is Rosie McGowan as Myra.

Another long-serving Gillaroo Players cast member, Liz Smith, will return to the stage as nosey neighbour Emily and she will be joined by fellow Belleek native, Kieran Gormley, in his first acting role as her husband Willie. Frances McGloin will make her Gillaroo Players debut starring as Sadie’s overbearing sister Georgina, who returns to Belfast for the first time alongside husband Hirium, played by Pettigo’s, Donal Monaghan.

Rounding out the cast is another newcomer, Killian Gilroy as Davey Galbraith and Lisa Galligan will star as bridesmaid Kathleen.

Speaking about the play, director Siobhan O’Brien talked of her excitement about bringing the production back to the stage in Garrison this October. Siobhan said: "Getting the Gillaroo Players back together has been a long-time in the planning process, but it’s only now that the stars and schedules are aligning.

"I am delighted that we have so many of our well-known cast members coming back to the stage and I know that local audiences are excited to see our new additions taking on their first roles."

With cast members from Garrison, Belleek and Pettigo this is a true community production in every sense of the word and Siobhan hopes that audiences enjoy the show and have as much fun as the cast and crew had had in rehearsals over the past few weeks.
