A RETIRED teacher and former Union President has denied sexually assaulting a child.
The case of David Baxter (65) of Killadeas Road, Lisnarick, was discussed at Enniskillen Magistrate's Court today (Monday).
Baxter is accused of sexually touching a child, aged under 13, on an unknown date between February 1, 2018, and April 30, 2018.
His barrister, Ciaran Roddy, told that court that Baxter was entering a "not guilty" plea to the charge.
Mr. Roddy then asked District Judge, Alana McSorley, to grant a two-week adjournment.
Judge McSorley adjourned the case until October 7 to fix a date for a further hearing, and for "agreement of any witnesses".
Baxter is a former teacher and Head of Music at Erne Integrated College, Enniskillen, having retired in 2019.
He also served as Northern Ireland President of the the National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers (NASUWT), and as both a founding member, and Musical Director, of Chamber Choir West.
Baxter was an occasional columnist with The Impartial Reporter where he gave his view on matters matters relating to education.
