Lisbellaw United Football Club, where Daniel coached the U11 Girls team, also shared a moving tribute: "It is with profound sadness that we write this post in memory of our treasured coach and friend Daniel Lavelle. His enthusiasm, passion, and dedication to coaching made him a favourite among the girls, parents, and fellow coaches. Daniel’s involvement with the club and his kind-hearted nature have left a huge void. Our deepest condolences go to his wife, Eilish, their children, and the wider family circle."

The club announced it would observe a minute’s silence at all senior games this weekend and suspend youth training and matches out of respect.

St. Mary’s GFC, Maguiresbridge, where Daniel’s children are active members, expressed their heartbreak in a social media post: "As a club, we are heartbroken. We lost club member Daniel Lavelle in a tragic road accident. Daniel was a huge supporter of his children and was always there for training or matches. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Lavelle and Rice families at this extremely difficult time. May Daniel now rest in peace."

"Daniel’s favourite role was timekeeping, and he was always there with a smile at the finish line. He was a keen runner and could often be seen running the roads around Crom. He will be sorely missed by all at parkrun and the wider community."
