A new film showcasing the ancient oral tradition of storytelling has been premiered at the Cavan County Museum.
The archival film, titled 'Land of Lore - Tales from Ireland's Border Counties', was unveiled at the museum as part of the finale event of Border Talk.
This project was a year-long creative collaboration between Storytellers of Ireland, the Armstrong Storytelling Trust, and cross-border communities.
The film, directed and produced in collaboration with the creative team at the Duncairn Arts Centre, Belfast, features storytellers sharing the history, folklore, and traditions of their area through the oral tradition of storytelling.
Sadie Ward McDermott, IFI board member, said: “It is wonderful to gather and celebrate the fruits of what has been a truly collaborative project, rooted in connectivity, creativity and most of all founded on communication and specifically the ancient oral tradition of storytelling."
The project also involved a series of educational, training, and community engagement initiatives, training more than 45 people in oral storytelling for performance.
More than 600 people attended over 12 public events hosted by participating community groups within the border counties.
Aoife Demel, chairperson of Storytellers of Ireland, said: "Storytelling connects people, and stories transcend borders."
The film will be available for public viewing at the Cavan County Museum.
