Following a highly-successful Clogher Valley Show at the end of July, the organisers held an evening of presentations of awards and cheques to charity.

Firstly, the winner of the 2024 Clogher Valley Show Bursary Award, in memory of Captain Robert Lowry, Jessica McKeown, received her plaque and a cheque for £1,000.

The award is made each year to an agricultural student. Jessica, a student at Greenmount, assisted in the Show office and also in the Home Industries and Schools sections.

A Young Person’s Award was also made to Ethan McGirr, who received the Arthur Thompson Memorial Trophy.

He took two weeks’ holidays from his apprenticeship with William Bell Tractors to help set up the Show fields, and also helped to clear up afterwards.

He was also a steward in the cattle field on the Show Day.

The nominated charity this year was ACE First Responders, a charity formed for the Augher, Clogher and Eskra areas.

At the awards night they received cheques for £500 from Clogher Valley YFC; £1,895 from the vintage section of the Show; and £220 from the Northern Ireland Blonde Cattle Club as proceeds of a breakfast morning at the Show.
