Two businesses from Fermanagh were among those celebrated at a special event for Northern Ireland's tourism businesses in County Antrim.
Nearly 50 businesses gathered at the 'Innovate Tourism Recognition' event at Galgorm Resort near Ballymena, organised by Tourism Northern Ireland. The occasion marked the conclusion of Northern Ireland's inaugural Tourism and Hospitality Week, which aimed to showcase the importance of the sector to the local economy.
Barry Flanagan's business, Erne Water Taxi, based in Enniskillen, was one of the local success stories recognised for its innovation and contribution to the tourism industry. Another Fermanagh business, Fermanagh Fun Farm in Lisbellaw, was also celebrated.
Eimear Callaghan, head of experience and industry development at Tourism NI, said: “Today we celebrate some of Northern Ireland’s most innovative tourism and hospitality businesses. Innovation is key to productivity, and our Innovate Tourism programme connects businesses with essential support to help them grow.”
The Innovate NI programme, a Department for the Economy initiative, aims to boost the number of businesses engaging in innovation across the region. Barry’s recognition at the event is a testament to the thriving tourism industry in Fermanagh, showcasing the county's unique offerings.
