Two Fermanagh Guides have received their Queen’s Guide Award, the highest award you can work towards in Girlguiding.

Molly McAllister and Jodie O’Reilly received their awards from Mrs. Debbie McDowell, Ulster Chief Commissioner at the recent Girlguiding Fermanagh annual general meeting held at Enniskillen Model Primary School on Thursday. September 19.

Attendees were welcomed by Girlguiding Fermanagh President, Lizzie Hogg who also gave a brief history of Girlguiding in Fermanagh, the Guiding movement will celebrate 100 years in Fermanagh in 2025.

Several other awards were presented as the county marked another successful year of Girlguiding.

Highlights this year included Muddy Ducks Camp, a county-wide trip to Emerald Park, Thinking Day celebrations as well as the usual fun of the weekly unit meetings and other excursions.

Young members received their Ranger Certificates from North Fermanagh Rangers and Enniskillen Rangers, they were: Marnie Noble, Jayne Magee, Abi Johnson, Jessica Noble, Sarah Elliott, Zara Welsh, Kate Huddleston, Evie McGArry and Maria Bullock.

At the AGM, a number of the Rangers give a presentation on their visit to Larkin International Jamboree in North Yorkshire.

Two leaders Emma Crowe and Diana Carson received catering awards in recognition of their hard work catering at a number of events throughout the year.

A number of leaders were also recognised for their long service to Fermanagh Girlguiding. Andrea Reilly, Jayne Veitch, Jodie O’Reilly, Jodie Masterson, Lisa McVitty, Rachel Acheson and Rosemary Fyffe received their five-year service award, and Rachael Lipscomb received a ten-year service award.

Avril Armstrong, Caroline Neville, Dawn Mahfoundhi, Emma Crowe, Helen Noble and Joan Huey were recognised for their 15-year service.

A cohort of volunteers were recognised for 25 years of service to Girlguiding and they were Jacqui Johnson, June Crowe, Karen McAllister, Linda Fitzpatrick and Andrea McIlveen.

Two leaders, Elaine Crawford and Rosemary Whiteman were celebrated and recognised for 30 years of service.

The Anderson Plate was awarded to Jodie O’Reilly and the Ivy Award was presented to Ann McCrea.

Caroline Neville, County Commissioner for Fermanagh Girlguiding gave a comprehensive report of the previous year’s activities during the business part of the meeting. During a break in proceedings, those attending enjoyed a delicious supper and a fun drumming session with The Gathering Drum.

Following the business of the meeting, a number of presentations were made to Debbie McDowell, Ulster Chief Commissioner and the incoming West County Commissioner.

Outgoing County Fermanagh Commissioner, Caroline Neville received a presentation on behalf of members for her service as County Commissioner, a role which she served with distinction, as she was presented with her gift she received a standing ovation from members.
