The South West Acute Hospital (SWAH) has welcomed delegates for the European Trauma Course (ETC) 2024.
The hospital, part of the Western Health and Social Care Trust (Western Trust), has been the Northern Ireland regional centre for the course since 2017.
Dr. Ian Crawford, Western Trust consultant in emergency medicine at the South West Acute Hospital and course organiser, explained: "The European Trauma Course (ETC) is an innovative life support course for doctors and other healthcare professionals that are involved in the acute care of major trauma patients.
"The course provides advanced trauma training with a strong focus on teamwork and non-technical skills and allows candidates to spend 85 per cent of their time practising in scenario-based workshops and skill stations."
Dr. Crawford added: "We warmly welcomed delegates from across the UK and Ireland to SWAH this week.
"For senior clinicians across relevant specialties, the ETC focuses on the skills that underpin the delivery of effective trauma care by trauma teams in major trauma units and major trauma centres nationally and internationally.
"As the NI regional centre for the ETC, we are proud to contribute to trauma care locally, regionally and nationally by delivering the course in the excellent medical education centre here at the South West Acute Hospital, Enniskillen."
