An Enniskillen charity is offering a free bra fitting service for women who have had or are about to have breast cancer surgery.

As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Cancer Connect NI is highlighting its support services for breast cancer survivors.

The charity, which is located next to Forthill Park, provides a fitting service for women who are about to have or who have had breast cancer surgery.

The service, which began in February 2010, is carried out by two volunteers who have personal experiences of breast cancer.

They cater to women who have had a lumpectomy or mastectomy and keep a stock of a specific bra recommended by Altnagelvin Hospital surgeons for those planning reconstruction.

The lingerie is from the Anita Care range, specially designed for women who have had breast surgery.

The charity said: "All the products are manufactured to the strictest quality requirements and bear the label ‘Confidence in Textiles’ which provides a guarantee of the highest product safety.

"Anita lingerie and swimwear is fashionable and feminine and is renowned for excellent fit, unrivalled comfort and impeccable quality.

"Cancer Connect NI is delighted to be able to offer Anita Care lingerie and swimwear to all those women who avail of our fitting service."

To help with the increased costs a cancer diagnosis can bring, the charity provides the first bra free of charge and subsidises further purchases.

This is made possible by the generosity of the local community and a grant from The Pink Ribbon Foundation.

For those unable to travel to the centre, the bra fitting team is willing to provide the service at the client's home.

The charity said: "We have been delighted to observe the positive impact our service has had on many clients, both physically and emotionally."
