The principal of Enniskillen Integrated Primary School (EIPS) is to leave his post having only taken over in September.

Callum Hannigan, who was previously Vice-Principal of Mill Strand Integrated Primary School in Portrush, replaced Adele Kerr as EIPS Principal following her retirement.

But he is to return to his former school, this time as Principal after he tendered his resignation to the Board of Governors of the school on Monday.

In a letter seen by The Impartial Reporter that was sent to parents/carers of pupils in EIPS by the Chairman of the Board of Governors, Neil Jardine informed them of the news.

The Board of Governors held an emergency meeting on Monday night and appointed Vice-Principal, Mr. Nick O'Neill as Acting Principal until June 2025.

"Mr. O'Neill will be supported by Mrs. Edel Leonard who will take up the duties of Acting Vice-Principal during this period."

The posts will take effect from Monday, November 4 with the letter concluding: "As always, I'm sure the school community will give their full support to our new leadership team for the remainder of the school year."

In an interview with The Impartial Reporter in September, Mr. Hannigan said he was "privileged" to join the school and it "already feels at home".

"I am privileged to be appointed to such a great school. It has a great history in terms of where it has come from and where it is now, and it has flourished under the previous head teacher, Mrs. Kerr.

"It is great to join such a welcoming family, and I mean that genuinely. Everyone from the staff, pupils and parents have been very welcoming. I feel at home, which makes my role that bit easier.

"Overall, I am excited to take the school forward in the next part of its journey."
