MINISTER of Education, Paul Givan, has said that a final decision has yet to be made regarding the potential closure of Lack Primary School.
UUP MLA Diana Armstrong recently asked Minister Givan if a "final decision" had been taken on the future of the primary school, which is earmarked for closure.
Lack Primary School was originally set to close in June of this year due to low pupil numbers, but an announcement was made in April that it would stay open for another academic year.
In response to Mrs. Armstrong, Minister Givan confirmed that no definitive action has been taken yet.
"A decision has not yet been taken on the proposal, however, a report has been prepared and has been passed to me to inform my decision," he said.
The Minister added: "On September 20, 2023, the Education Authority (EA) published Development Proposal 721 proposing that Lack Primary School will discontinue with effect from 31 August 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter.
"The statutory two-month objection period in relation to this proposal ended on November 27, 2023."
