THE closure of the BT contact centre in Enniskillen will be a "sad day", a local Councillor has said.
The contact centre is due to close on Thursday, October 31. For those that have signed up to a Voluntary Paid Leavers (VPL) scheme, this will be their "last working day", while December 31 will be their "last day of service".
Meanwhile, those that did not sign up to the scheme, October 31 will be their "last day of Service".
The closure of the centre was announced in February, and has resulted in the loss of around 300 jobs.
Alliance Councillor Eddie Roofe has called on Invest NI to work to replace the jobs that have been lost.
"It will be a sad day in Enniskillen following the closure of BT's site in the town," Councillor Roofe said.
"Whilst I welcome the recent jobs fair, it is clear that not enough has been done to date by Invest NI to replace these lost jobs with similar, well paid roles.
"The redundancy package offered by BT has provided us with time to find alternatives but action is needed now and not later.
"I continue to communicate with various companies to try and sell Enniskillen as a home for their businesses."
