Emma Weaver, the dynamic founder of Mental Wealth International, and Chief Executive Officer of Cynestx, based in Enniskillen, has built her career around the principles of authenticity, resilience, and the determination to leave a meaningful legacy.
Her work transcends Enniskillen, reaching businesses globally and creating ripples of change in the world of mental health and entrepreneurship.
For Emma, success is far more than financial achievement or external recognition.
It’s about shaping her path in a way that stays true to her values and empowers others.
“Being a successful woman in business, to me, means showing up having the freedom to shape my own path while staying true to my values,” she explains.
Emma’s idea of success is deeply rooted in leaving a lasting impact on those around her.
She continues: “Success in business isn’t just about financial gain or external recognition. It’s about building something that reflects my passion, vision, and integrity, leaving a legacy and supporting others along the way.”
This holistic approach to success is what drives Emma. It is not just about her personal journey but also about lifting others up as she advances in her career.
Her belief in authenticity and the need for resilience underscores everything she does, both in her business endeavours and personal life.
Navigating a career in male-dominated spaces has not always been easy for Emma. She has encountered biases and stereotypes, particularly in the early stages of her career.
“Yes, like many women, I’ve faced challenges in my career due to my gender. Some of these challenges were subtle, while others were more obvious,” she reflects.
These experiences included moments when her contributions were undervalued or when assumptions were made about her commitment to work, especially as a mother.
Emma's strategy for overcoming such barriers was to focus on her strengths and let her results speak for themselves.
“To overcome these situations, I worked on my strengths. I am very driven when I truly believe in something, knowing that results speak louder than words.”
She also leaned on a supportive network of people who believed in her potential – a vital resource in overcoming the challenges she faced.
Emma is a firm believer in the power of collaboration among women. She advocates for building strong networks and shifting from a competitive mindset to one of support.
“‘Collaboration over competition’. Historically, women have sometimes been pitted against one another in competitive environments. This goes back centuries; however, it is essential that we adapt a change in this approach together,” she says.
She also highlights the importance of male allies in challenging biases and creating an inclusive space for women in leadership.
“Having genuine male allies is so important too. Challenging bias together – one voice in a room can have a huge impact,” Emma shares.
For Emma, mentorship plays a significant role in this process, as it allows women to uplift one another and share knowledge.
“Another very impactful way women can support each other is through mentorship. This has played a huge part in my success,” she adds.
Throughout her journey, Emma has been inspired by many women who have stood in their power and spoken their truth.
“Every woman who truly stands in her power, unapologetically, these women always inspire me in whatever role they choose to take in life,” she shares.
She is particularly inspired by Dr. Terri Trent, a woman she’s had the pleasure of meeting several times.
“She truly is a lady changing the world, showing me there is always a way and to always be kind at heart.”
Emma also credits her health visitor, Zelda Campbell, and her college lecturer, Michelle McCauley, for believing in her early on in her life and educational journey.
Closer to home, Emma draws strength from her family, especially her daughter, Dr. Chloe Weaver, who has been a constant source of support.
“My amazing daughter Dr. Chloe Weaver has kept me strong for 28 years and counting,” she adds proudly.
Resilience, adaptability, and self-belief have been the cornerstones of Emma’s success. In the field of mental health and as an entrepreneur, these qualities have helped her navigate the challenges of leadership.
“Integrity in your business is crucial, and standing by your values is paramount,” Emma adds.
She emphasises that entrepreneurship requires a level of resilience that can be daunting, but also rewarding.
“It’s not for the fainthearted. I always say you really have to hold your nerve, especially when starting out. There are so many challenges and unforeseeable circumstances.”
Emma uses her platform to empower other women in many ways. She has spearheaded an all-female trade mission for women in business from Ireland to New York – a venture designed to connect female entrepreneurs with investors and influential business figures.
“This is an amazing opportunity for women to support each other and bring people along with us on the journey,” she explains.
Emma’s commitment to female empowerment extends beyond the corporate world. As the curator of TEDx Enniskillen, she created a platform for local women to share ideas and inspire change.
“I also curated TEDx Enniskillen women’s event. This is a global platform that I brought locally,” she says.
Her global reach includes keynote speaking engagements and contributing to empowerment books, both locally and internationally.
She has won two ‘Women Changing The World’ awards – a testament to her dedication to supporting women.
Emma’s advice for young women entering her industry is simple: “Absolutely go for it. Know your why.”
She stresses the importance of surrounding oneself with mentors and a strong network.
“Keep a mentor – these people walk the path with you, keep you focused and accountable, which is so important.”
She also encourages journaling and using mantras as powerful tools for self-reflection and growth.
“Write every day, journal your journey, and have a mantra. This is so powerful.”
Looking ahead, Emma hopes to inspire a culture of collaboration among women leaders.
“I hope to inspire the next generation of women leaders to pursue their goals fearlessly, break down barriers, and create meaningful change,” she says.
Emma’s journey is one of resilience, strength, and purpose. Through her work, she continues to break barriers, not just for herself, but for future generations of women.
Her legacy is one of empowerment – a testament to the power of believing in oneself and lifting others up along the way.
