Champion boxer Barry McGuigan is speculated to be heading to the jungle later this month as one of the campmates for the upcoming series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
The Clones Cyclone, who is now based in Kent was one of a number of celebrities who are reputedly heading Down Under to take part in bush tucker trials under the watchful eye of Ant and Dec.
A jungle insider told the Sun newspaper that McGuigan is "a knockout signing for the show."
"He's a huge star who'll bring back nostalgic memories of the Eighties for many viewers because that was the era when his career was at its peak and he was a big household name", they said. Those reportedly joining McGuigan in the jungle include Colleen Rooney, the wife of former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney who hit headlines in recent years over her high-profile libel battle, dubbed Wagatha Christie, with fellow footballer’s wife Rebekah Vardy.
Former Strictly Come Dancing star Oti Mabuse, BBC Radio One Presenter Dean McCullough, who hails from Newtownabbey and N-Dubz band member Tulisa Contostavlos are among the famous faces reportedly heading into the Australian jungle for the upcoming series. Coronation Street actor Alan Halsall, Loose Women’s Jane Moore, McFly singer Danny Jones, and former BBC radio host the Rev Richard Coles are also rumoured to be part of the line-up.
They will be joined by Love Islander Maura Higgins, radio stars Melvin Odoom and Dean McCullough, and internet personality GK Barry, according to reports by The Sun newspaper.
ITV is yet to officially confirm any of the 2024 cast, with a spokesperson saying: “Any names suggested for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is just speculation.”
The forthcoming series, launching on November 17, will see a new batch of famous faces undertake challenges and trials to secure food and treats for the group and avoid being voted out by viewers.
