A Farmers' Market recently took place in Enniskillen and Omagh, organised by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council in collaboration with the NI Regional Food Programme and the Sperrin and Erne Food Partnership.
The initiative sought to raise awareness of the quality of regional foods, encourage the consumption of fresh, nutritious, and seasonal items, and provide support to local businesses.
A series of markets aim to showcase the best local produce while promoting sustainability and creating vibrant visitor experiences to support the revitalisation of town centres.
The first market was held last Saturday at Enniskillen Castle, with additional markets scheduled at the Marquee on Main Street, Kevlin Avenue in Omagh, on Sunday, November 23, and a final December market planned for Enniskillen Castle on December 7.
Organisers invited local producers interested in participating to submit an online expression of interest through the Council’s official website.
Residents and visitors were encouraged to support local farmers and producers while enjoying a unique shopping experience in the heart of Enniskillen and Omagh.
These markets not only highlighted local food products but also aimed to reduce food miles, contributing to a more sustainable future and providing the community with an opportunity to experience the rich food culture of the district.
