“You will only fool me once” was the warning given to a man at Enniskillen Magistrates Court after he was convicted of dangerous driving.

The court heard Reece Farrell (20) of College Park Lane, Enniskillen was detected by police officers on July 23, 2024, of doing two donuts in a BMW 2Series on the Blunnick Road, Florencecourt.

He had a work colleague in the car with him at the time and when stopped by police made full admissions, co-operated with police and was apologetic.

Before submissions on his behalf, District Judge Alana McSorley told Farrell’s barrister, Stephen Fitzpatrick, that it was ironic for Farrell to be detected on July 23 as she had also heard a case of careless driving against him on that day.

Mr. Fitzpatrick accepted there was an inevitability about what would happen to Farrell’s driving licence after the case and said it took a “long time for the penny to drop” for Farrell.

He added it was a “foolish decision to undertake this type of behaviour” but pointed out the early guilty plea.

Farrell was given a six-month driving disqualification and £350 fine and the stern warning from Judge McSorley.
