The South Tyrone Agricultural Group has had an eventful year, with a series of successful events, competitions, and community initiatives.
In April, the group took part in a joint visit with the East Tyrone Group to Fleming Agri Products in Newbuildings.
Attendees toured the manufacturing facility and received a comprehensive overview of its operations before heading to Brook Hall for a presentation on Carbon research by John Gilliland.
The day proved to be both informative and enjoyable for all involved.
The group’s annual cereal competition, held earlier in the summer, saw local farmers competing in various categories.
Special thanks were extended to judges David Bleakney and William Maye from Burkes Agri Supplies Ltd.
The winners of the group competition were: winter barley, Darren Reid, Dungannon; spring barley, Neville Millar, Dungannon; winter wheat, Caledon Estate, Caledon; oats: Caledon Estate, Caledon.
Neville Millar went on to win first place in County Tyrone for spring barley, while Caledon Estate claimed top honours for winter wheat and oats in the county.
Caledon’s oats also won the overall Northern Ireland Oats competition.
The group also participated in the Clogher Valley Show, where they raised £468.87 for Rural Support through donations for refreshments.
