The Fermanagh County Museum has achieved full museum accreditation for its dedication to maintaining high standards.

The museum at Enniskillen Castle, run by the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, has been recognised for its effective governance, excellent care of collections, and providing a quality visitor experience.

Councillor John McClaughry, chair of the council, said: "Achieving full museum accreditation once again is a significant milestone, underscoring our dedication to exemplary governance, collections care and visitor experience.

"This accreditation affirms our commitment to maintaining the highest standards in valuing and enhancing access to our rich and diverse heritage and is testament to the ongoing hard work and dedication of our museum services staff."

The museum was awarded its latest accreditation certificate on October 21, during the opening of the "William Scott (1913–1989): From Life to Art" exhibition at Enniskillen Castle.

Eva Lynch, accreditation adviser and assessor at the Northern Ireland Museums Council, said: "We are pleased that the dedication of our local museums to governance, collections care, and visitor experience has allowed them to maintain the accreditation standard.

"We trust this will support their ongoing growth as valuable resources for both visitors and the local community."

The museum has to renew its status every five years.
