A man currently on remand for charges of aggravated burglary with intent to commit damage and improper use of communications has had a bail application refused.
Billy Joe White (27), of Sycamore Drive, Enniskillen, but currently in Maghaberry Prison appeared via videolink for the application at Enniskillen Magistrates Court on Monday.
His charges relate to incidents from October 7-14, 2024.
A police officer, who opposed bail, outlined to the court that White had allegedly messaged and threatened the injured party after buying a TV from her through Facebook Marketplace.
White bought the TV for £150 and collected it from the injured party's address on October 7, however, some hours later he messaged demanding his money back.
The victim was in the bathroom of her house when she heard her front door open and she assumed it was her sister who lived with her.
But when she called out there was no reply and then White came into the bathroom with a baseball bat making demands for the money and making threats.
He was arrested on October 14 and made full admissions to all charges.
The officer opposed bail as they believed there was a risk of re-offending and interference with witnesses and also that he had committed offences before when subject to suspended sentences.
Ciaran Roddy, barrister for White, told the court his client had issues with alcohol which he had tried to tackle with "limited success".
He said the six weeks he had spent in custody had allowed White to get sober.
Mr. Roddy said White had effectively phoned the police on himself and said his client had overreacted to "feeling wronged" when he had consumed alcohol.
But Mr. Roddy said his client was capable of being managed in the community under stringent bail conditions.
However, District Judge Alana McSorley disagreed: "I took a chance on Mr. White before imposing a Probation Order."
Judge McSorley said the difficulty was White was able to stay out of trouble when not drinking but when he does drink he cannot regulate his emotions and his anger is heightened.
She added that she had hoped the Probation Order would have helped maintain White's sobriety but "that has not been the case" and bail was refused.
The case will be heard again on December 16.
