The PSNI District Support Team (DST) in Fermanagh and Omagh have had another active and productive few days, collaborating with local police teams to ensure safety and combat crime in the area.
Over the weekend, DST worked alongside the Erne East Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) and Local Policing Team (LPT) in Omagh.
In Enniskillen, DST officers carried out seven drug-related detections over three days. Stop searches resulted in the seizure of Class A and Class B controlled substances.
Early Monday morning saw DST conducting breath-testing checkpoints across Lisnaskea, Newtownbutler, Rosslea, and Donagh. Most drivers complied with legal limits; however, a small number were found close to the threshold.
In one case, a motorist narrowly avoided arrest, providing a breath sample just under the legal limit. Alarmingly, this occurred during busy morning hours when children were travelling to school.
Their joint efforts led to the successful apprehension of two individuals suspected of attempting to break into vehicles along the Great Northern Road. Additionally, damage caused to cars at a nearby sales garage was swiftly addressed.
A spokesperson highlighted the persistent dangers of drink driving, stating, "Despite it being 2024, some individuals still believe drink driving is acceptable. With frequent road tragedies, such behaviour puts countless lives at risk. Don't risk the lives of others over selfishness. Stop taking chances!"
The DST continues its dedicated work to maintain community safety and reduce risks on the roads.
