An exhibition highlighting stories of resilience from victims and survivors of domestic abuse is now open in Enniskillen Library.
The Souls of Our Shoes Exhibition was launched on November 26 by Cathy Doig, the All-Ireland Mothers’ Union Social Policy Representative for Northern Ireland.
The exhibition was welcomed by the Clogher Diocesan Mothers’ Union President, Heather Ellis.
The exhibition will remain in Enniskillen Library until Saturday, December 7.
Ms. Ellis said: "It is an extension of our Mothers’ Union initiatives which highlight abuse, and the practical and prayerful support we offer to families.
"It is a reminder that with timely help, many can escape from their abusive situations, rebuild their confidence and live in safety.
"For us in Mothers’ Union, complacency is not an option, actions, no matter how tiny, are the way forward.
"Tiny steps have a habit of turning into large strides.
"Armed with prayer, compassion and integrity we step forward and continue to build on our work to combat domestic abuse and gender- based violence."
The event was attended by Mothers’ Union members from 11 branches, as well as representatives of partner agencies from Fermanagh & Omagh District Council, Police and Community Safety Partnership, Women’s Aid, and the PSNI.
Several other local charities, clergy from the Diocese of Clogher, and Bishop Ian Ellis were also present.
Bishop Ian said: "An exhibition such as this raises awareness and lifts our eyes to a problem in society.
"It prompts us to develop a compassionate and hopeful response, to ensure that anyone experiencing domestic abuse can feel safe and supported by the church and wider community."
