Mrs. Sharon Patricia Coote, formerly of 37 Aghingowly Road, Fivemiletown, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2022.
Sharon was born on March 25, 1968. She was the youngest child of the late Annett and Nora Gordon and sister of Marina, Alex and the late Annette. Sharon grew up on the family farm at Lislane House, Fivemiletown.
As a child, Sharon thoroughly enjoyed life on the farm especially helping her Dad and brother Alex during the lambing season.
During her teenage years, she had a great interest in horses and enjoyed riding and caring for her pony Sindy.
Sharon began her education at Carntall Primary School and then transferred to Fivemiletown High School. After leaving school, Sharon took up employment in Fivemiletown Post Office until 1991 when she began her banking career with the Northern Bank.
She was initially appointed to Lisnaskea in April of that year and her career took her to branches in Aughnacloy, Irvinestown and finally, following promotion, to Omagh where she remained until 2008.
In more recent years Sharon was employed part -time in Currency Xtra where she enjoyed working alongside her sister Marina.
It was during her time working in Aughnacloy that Sharon first met Gary. It soon became apparent that Gary’s more frequent visits to the branch were not always banking related!
Their romance blossomed and they married in September 2003. They set up home in Aghingowly, Fivemiletown and were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Lauren and Alex.
It was in 2008 that Sharon took a career break to dedicate more time to her family. Sharon was first and foremost a loving and caring wife, mother, sister and aunt. She devoted her life to raising Lauren and Alex and creating a very loving and happy home.
Family life meant everything to Sharon, including the family pet, Alfie!
Sharon especially loved planning family getaways when she could get Gary out of the shop! She enjoyed shopping trips, weekends away and holidays!
When the new butchery opened in Fivemiletown, Sharon’s organisational, planning and financial skills were a great asset to the expanding business. Sharon was held in high esteem by the staff and customers. She was very much a people’s person and was highly thought of throughout the community.
Anyone who was fortunate enough to know Sharon would agree that she was a very special person who touched the lives of many.
Sadly in 2021 Sharon received the devastating diagnosis of her illness, however, Sharon always said her faith, and support from family and friends helped her through this very difficult time.
During her illness, Sharon received excellent professional care and treatment in the Cancer Centre Unit of the Belfast City Hospital and the Palliative Care Unit in Omagh Hospital. Her family are most grateful to the Valley medical Practice and the District Nursing Team who attended to Sharon in her home.
Through it all, her love, and caring for her family, always remained her first priority .
Sharon was a very special person and an inspiration to us all; she is greatly missed by the entire family circle. Sharon is survived by her husband Gary, daughters Lauren and Alex, sister Marina and brother Alex.
Funeral arrangements were carried out by Marcus Madill- SR Elliott. Donations in lieu of flowers are for the Palliative Care Ward Omagh Hospital.
