Sallaghy Bowling Club hosted their pairs competition in the parish hall over week commencing February 9 with the finals being played on Friday February 13.
This date did not deter any bowlers as a record 103 pairs put their skills to the test. Some very close matches evolved over the course of the week but in the final on Friday the successful pairing of William Harpur and David Ferguson from Devenish Bowling Club took the top prize.
Despite some very good bowling, the runners up, taking second place were James Rutledge and Gareth Armstrong from Sixmilecross. Last year the competition had to be cancelled owing to the untimely death of one of the clubs founder members Mrs Irene McWilliams and as a tribute, members of her family presented a trophy to the club to be presented to the winning pair of the competition in her memory.
Winners William and David congratulated Sallaghy bowling club on a very well and efficiently run competition and hoped to compete again next year.
