Three Fermanagh players will be on Ulster duty at next weekend’s Inter Provincial Championships in Cork.
Irvinestown Lawn Tennis Club’s Kyran Maguire will be joined by Enniskillen Tennis Club’s duo Sarah Cousins and Eva Callaghan at the event with will be held at Rushbrooke Tennis Club.
Kyran has been selected as part of the Boys U18 squad and qualified by by finishing in the top six in Ulster over the course of the season. Indeed, his good recent form and the fact that he gained great experience in playing in two ITF events lately has helped cement his place on the Ulster squad.
Eve Callaghan was selected to play for the Girls U14 Ulster team. This is the second time she has been asked to represent her province.
Eve had a great tennis year winning the West Ulster open singles in her age group and the under 16 doubles. She also won two singles titles in Omagh in the 14’s and 16’s. Eve also finished top four in the Ulster match plays.
Sarah Cousins is certainly no stranger to representing her province having played on two previous occasions.
Sarah’s year has been quieter as she has taken some time away from tournaments to focus more on her game. Despite playing fewer tournaments she still finished number two in the Ulster match plays and number seven at the national match plays and with her recent Ulster title in the girl’s doubles she is back to competing at the highest level.
The Inter-Pros gets underway in Cork on Tuesday August 8.
