How did you become involved in your sport?
I GOT involved through a friend who was into cycling. This got me started into purchasing my first bike and equipment.
I then joined Mallard Flyers, and I’m now currently with Lakeland Cycling Club.
What is it that you love about your sport?
THE enjoyment of being outdoors, the challenges and competitions ahead, meeting new people and the companionship.
What are your earliest sporting memories?
BEING involved with the rallying scene with Stephen Harron.
Who was, or is, your biggest influence?
MY wife!
Who do you look up to in your chosen sport?
MARK McGirr has got me to the level I’m currently at through his training and knowledge.
Could you give us an example of what a typical week involves for yourself?
MOST weeks I’m doing eight hours training between been out on the road, zwift and racing on Wednesday evenings when the season is on.
What do you think are the key to being successful in sport?
DEDICATION, training and willpower.
What have been your biggest successes, to date?
HELPING to win the Inter-Club races as part of a team member for the past three years, and myself winning the last race in the league.
What are your goals for the future?
I’D LOVE to win the Lakeland Club Championship, but for now I will keep dreaming!!
What bit of advice would you offer to anybody starting out in your chosen sport?
JOIN a club for the friendship, advice and support.
