Derrylin claimed the delayed 2020 Junior Championship title with victory over Coa at Brewster Park tonight, rounding off a wonderful week for the club after they secured promotion to Division One last Saturday.
The O'Connells had come from five points down to snatch a draw when the sides met in the first game and this was one was tight in the first half as well.
But goals were to prove crucial for Derrylin as James Dolan's goal late in the first half put them two up at the break before Danny Leonard bagged a second nine minutes into the second half which gave them a cushion they were never to relinquish.
The sides had traded points throughout the first half with Leonard, Jake Smith and Dolan on target for the O'Connells while Eoin Donnelly, Gary Lynch, Ruairi McGuinness and Darren McQuade registered for Coa.
The key score of the half though arrived in added on time as Luke Flanagan dispossessed the ball deep in his own defence and the play swept down the other end of the pitch for Dolan to finish to the net to leave it 1-05 to 0-06 at half time.
The sides shared the opening four points of the second half but then came the killer blow of Derrylin's second goal as another good move was well finished by Leonard to make it 2-07 to 0-08.
Both sides were then reduced to 14 men as Eoin Donnelly and Danny Leonard saw red following an off the ball incident.
Jason Farry and Ryan Hanna did close the gap back to four with well taken points for the O'Dwyers but Derrylin rattled off points from Smith, Flanagan, Ruairi McGoldrick, Fearghal Shannon and Donal McAvinue to leave them comfortable winners at the finish.
