Enniskillen Rangers 4 Killen Rangers 0
Enniskillen Rangers backed up last week’s fine win over Ballinamallard Reserves in the Mulhern Cup with a resounding 4-0 victory over Killen Rangers at the Ball Range.
The ‘Gers were dominant throughout, taking the lead on the stroke of half time through a Jason Keenan penalty before adding Stuart Rainey bagged a second half brace while Connor Rippey also got on the scoresheet.
‘Gers boss Neil Coulter believes his side are starting to get their rewards for some strong performances.
“We are beginning to find our form, we’ve been playing well lately but we’re now getting the results that our performances deserve,” said Coulter, who felt his side were dominant in their win over Killen.
“We were on top from the first minute, much the same as the Ballinamallard game. We started well, we took our chances when they came and we just didn’t let them play at all. It was a very pleasing performance.”
The home side were on the front foot from the off with Stuart Rainey and Jason Keenan both having chances before they eventually opened the scoring on the stroke of half time.
Richard Johnston and Rippey were involved in the build up before Keenan was taken down in the box as he was about to pull trigger. Keenan dusted himself down to tuck away the spot kick to give Rangers the advantage at half time.
And they went on to dictate proceedings in the second half. Great play involving a number of home players saw the ball worked to Rainey on the edge of the box and he curled an effort to the top corner of Joel Peden’s net to make it 2-0.
A third soon followed for the ‘Gers as Jake Brown broke up play before feeding Aidan Gardiner and he slipped Rainey through with the pacy attacker rounding Peden before calmly slotting home.
Rippey then rounded off the scoring with the home side’s fourth of the contest.
Johnston was again involved as his ball picked out Rippey on the left and he crossed for Keenan and although his effort came back off the post Rippey was on hand to tuck home as Rangers clinched the points.
Next up for Rangers is a meeting with high flying Dergview Reserves on Saturday before an intriguing Mulhern Cup clash with Enniskillen Town a week later.
“The cup game is obviously a big one but we’ll just take it one game at a time, we have Dergview this week and after that we will focus on Town in the cup,” added Coulter.
