This weekend is the start of the Irish J24 sailing calendar with the first Regional event being hosted by Lough Erne Yacht Club.
Boats from many different clubs in Ireland with their crew will travel to Lough Erne Yacht Club this Friday to take part in the two-day event.
There are entries from Bray, Greystones, Howth, Lough Ree and Sligo and many place in between.
The event will also include a number of under 25 teams.
Tomorrow, Friday, will see the final boats arriving to Lough Erne Yacht Club, followed by a day of measuring, hoisting masts, careful rig tweaking and much cleaning and polishing.
This will be followed by a weekend of exciting racing on the water and plenty of fun and entertainment ashore. There will be a gala dinner on Saturday evening followed by the fabulous Drunkin’ Lullabies band.
If you are in Castle Archdale or down the Belleek Road, depending on the wind direction, you may get a view of the racing.
Events like this would not be possible without the generous sponsorship of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and Hidden Hearing.
We are also indebted to our many volunteering club members, both experienced and our junior members, who are all coming together to help host this spectacular event.
We look forward to showcasing beautiful Lough Erne and indeed the surrounding area to our many sailing visitors this weekend.
