Devenish 4-09 St. Pat's 3-12

Devenish and St. Pat's will have to do it all over again after they played out a draw in the U15 A Championship final in Derrylin on Wednesday night.

St. Pat's had looked as if they were on their way to victory as they led by four late on but a Flynn Doherty goal was followed by a point from Daniel McGovern for the Garrison side as they fought back to send the tie to a replay.

There was little between the sides early on but two goals in as many minutes midway through the first half seemed to put Devenish in charge.

Cormac Burns bagged the first and this was followed a minute later by a converted McGovern penalty to make it 2-02 to 0-03.

However, the Donagh outfit had the better of the closing exchanges in the half with Conor Kelly grabbing a goal as they hit back to level things at 2-04 to 1-07. And on the stroke of half time Eoghan McManus accounted for St. Pat's second goal to leave them three up at the interval.

With Nathan Beattie and McManus among the points early in the second half St Pat's pushed their advantage out to five points, 2-10 to 2-05, but Devenish responded well and they knocked over a couple of points before Burns netted his second goal to again level up proceedings, 2-10 to 3-07.

But, when Ciaran Rice slotted home a third St. Pat's goal it helped them into a four point lead with three minutes remaining.

Back though came the Devenish side and Doherty hit their fourth goal before McGovern pointed to leave it 4-09 to 3-12 at the final whistle.
