Belcoo 5-24 Coa 0-11
Belcoo made light work of the challenge of Coa last Friday night to pick up their second win in the league with a 28 point victory.
Four first half goals set the O'Rahilly's on the way to the convincing win, with the game well out of sight for the visitors before the half time whistle was blown.
For Belcoo's Barry Hanrahan he felt it will be hard for either side to take anything from the game: "I don’t think either team can take much from that game. Coa are unlikely to have one of those nights again. We’ve experienced them ourselves in the past."
However, he was happy with the final score his side hit.
"With that said, 5-24 is a high score to put up against any team. This has probably been coming. We’ve felt that our performances in the mini league and the opener against the Bridge warranted better results. We are happy with how we are playing and I believe we will improve game by game."
Belcoo went on the attack from the throw in and after some patient play Eoin Shiels drove at the Coa defence before firing over but Coa did respond with a good score from Ryan Hanna.
A turnover by Conor McAloon set Shiels off for his second point but again Coa responded with a mark from Darren McQuade.
But from here on Belcoo took control. Daryl Kelly, Cillian Murray (2), Dara Flanagan and Ciarán Flaherty put four in it before Lawrence McKeown hit the first goal of the game to make it 1-06 to 0-02.
McQuade fired over a point before Belcoo went on a scoring spree.
Paul McGrath would pop over in response and then Dara Flanagan would palm to the net after a pass from Conor McAloon.
Gary Doherty would fire over a free from distance followed by a McKeown score to make it 2-09 to 0-03.
McAloon would get on the scoreboard with a point of his weaker foot before Belcoo's third goal.
A poor kickout was broke by Murray and the ball was flicked into his arms by Flaherty and he made no mistake.
A fine team move saw McGrath the next to find the net before McQuade's free ended Coa's scoring drought.
A Doherty 45 and Flaherty mark would finish the scoring and leave it 4-12 to 0-04 at the break.
Belcoo kept up their dominance in the second half although Coa did keep plugging on.
Hanna hit a fine score but Flaherty cancelled it out.
Shiels and McQuade traded points before McKeown and Flaherty hit two from play.
Coa had a McQuade free before a great team move saw a great ball from Shiels send Flanagan in for his second goal of the game.
Niall Quinn pointed in response for Coa while Flaherty scored at the other end after a turnover out the field was capitalised on.
Murray from a free and from play, Niall Leonard, McKeown, McAloon, Kelly, McGrath all scored in the closing stages
A McQuade free and scores from play and a Oisin Trainor beauty were among the final scores from Coa as it ended 5-24 to 0-11.
Belcoo travel to Brookeborough on Friday while Coa face Teemore.
