This competition was kindly sponsored by both the Lady Captain and the Resort.
The front nine was won by Sharron Miles with 19pts, (9). She drifted back over the next nine holes and consequently was just pipped out of fourth prize.
Back nine
The back nine was won by Lorraine Bridge (31) with a great 20pts, just beating Julie Blair and Ita McManus by one shot.
In fourth place was Vivienne Bannon (22) with 33pts, and in second place was Lily O’Connell (25) with 35pts.
Lily rallied well after a poor front nine, scoring 21pts over the next nine holes. Gillian Wilson (22) came in second place, playing consistently throughout, and coming in with a great 41pts.
However, just sneaking past her, Máire Newman (17) scored 42pts to secure first place.
Hot streak
After winning Lady Captain’s prize just over a week ago, Máire was in comfortable form on the fairways and played faultless golf. She later said that the golfing gods were with her that day.
After the golf everyone was delighted to retire to The Loughside restaurant for a meal and relaxation. Lady Captain made the presentations and all spoke of the lovely day with golf, frienships and craic.
