North Fermanagh 1st XI concluded their league fixtures on Sunday with another impressive team performance away at Bready.
The home side won the toss and elected to bat first, putting the North Fermanagh team out into the field. The Fermanagh attack quickly got into their stride as Badar collected a hat-trick of wickets with his first three balls.
A. Fleming (52*), the Bready captain, put on a valiant display with the bat but with wickets falling at the other end, it was only a matter of time, before he would run out of batting partners. Lukman again impressing with his pinpoint bowling, picking up a further four wickets to add to his impressive haul this season.
Faris, yet again, bowled well picking up a maiden over and going for only five runs from his three overs and was unlucky not to pick up a wicket. Ben Duffy enthralled in the field, stopping anything that came in his direction. B. Crumley (27) came in as one of the tail-enders for Bready and worked well with his captain to add runs, but the introduction of Timothy Beacom to the bowling saw first, the wicket of Crumley and then that of Sharma. Bready finishing on a 115 all out in the 25th over.
The North Fermanagh innings saw the opening pair of Chris Faris (19) and Badar Mahmood (26) come to the crease. The duo quickly got into their rhythm and started to pepper the boundary with a flurry of shots zinging sweetly of the bat.
On reaching the 50 run mark in the fifth over, Faris was the first to be caught out from the bowling of J. Mutch in the sixth. Mahmood soon followed his batting partner back to the clubhouse later in the same over, again caught from the bowling of Mutch.
Timothy Beacom (11) and Osama Chaudhry (20) both continued the batting attack. After the dismissal of Beacom and Chaudhry, Greg Piergrosse (12*) and Captain, Graeme Fitzpatrick (18*) worked well to chip away at the required runs. With two runs required, Graeme stepped away out-side off stump and pulled the ball for six runs. This not only won the match but also clinched the league title for the Fermanagh men - a fitting ending to a great season and his first as Captain.
This coming weekend, North Fermanagh Firsts take on Burndennett away at Ardmore in the Final of the League Cup.
The match will be played over both Saturday and Sunday and looks set to be a great show of cricket and supporters are welcome to attend. North Fermanagh 2nds travel to Newbuildings on Sunday for the next round of their Cup.
