Belcoo and Lisnaskea will be looking to claim some silverware when they meet in the Ladies Junior Championship final on Saturday.
Both sides had high scoring victories in their semi-finals over Ederney and Knockninny so an exciting contest is to be expected.
Belcoo were 5-15 to 2-12 winners over Ederney thanks to a strong second half display in which two early goals gave them a 4-06 to 0-08 lead.
For their manager, Paul McGrath he is delighted with the progress his young side are making and reaching a championship final which will be a first for these players.
Joint Captains Leona McNulty and Michelle Cullen along with Elaine Maguire provide part of our spine with Seana Feeley and Sinead Barrett in the middle of the field.
“We’ve built and pride ourselves on working hard,” said McGrath. “We’ve some excellent youngsters who have relished the step up to Senior football.
“We are going into the Final in decent form and are expecting a really difficult contest.”
McGrath knows there is plenty of experience in the Lisnaskea team who have yet to be beaten this year: “Sharon Murphy and Caroline Kerins excelled for the county team for years and know where the posts are.”
And McGrath knows his side will have to make the most of their opportunities when they come along with such dangerous opposing players: “Converting our dominant spells on the scoreboard in games has been our Achilles heel and it’s something we need to rectify if we are to lift some silverware.”
For Lisnaskea full back, Áine Martin, it is good to be back in a county final.
The Emmetts overcame Knockninny 6-13 to 1-05 to reach the decider and Martin feels it is a good sign for the club and team which has been strengthened by the return of some experienced footballers such as Shauna McCrystal, Louise McKenna and Caroline Kerins.
“We were in the 2015 final against Kinawley and we won that day but it has been a while,” said Martin.
“It is nice to be back. It is a transition year with some new girls in but we have gelled well. There is a good mix of youth and experience.”
Alongside that experience, Skea have young quality in the likes of county player Cliodhna McElroy and Eva and Molly O’Donnelly and Jessica Connolly.
But Martin is all too aware of the challenge they face but hopes by Saturday evening Skea will have another trophy in their possession: “Belcoo are a bit like ourselves with a mix of youth and experience.
“They reached the Division Two final which speaks volumes.
“Hopefully things will go well on Saturday.”
Belcoo and Lisnaskea meet in Kinawely at 4pm on Saturday.
While the Junior championship will reach its climax, the Intermediate Championship has reached its semi-final stage.
Division One champions, Derrygonnelly, have dropped down following their loss to Kinawley in the Senior decider last week and they will be viewed as favourites for the title.
They take on Newtownbutler in Belnaleck at 12pm on Sunday, October 9.
Newtown overcame Aghadrumsee 1-19 to 1-07 in their preliminary round game.
The Harps will look to the likes of Eimear Smyth, Brendan Bannon, Niamh Smyth and Andrea Gordon to help them bounce back from last week’s defeat.
For Newtown they have plenty of experience in their ranks such as Noelle Connolly, Maria Maguire and Roisin McDonald.
In the other semi-final Brookeborough and Tempo face off in Maguiresbridge at 10am on Sunday.
The Bogue sisters, Bláithín and Cadhla, will be to the fore for the Maguires.
Brookeborough easily overcame Enniskillen Gaels in their first outing 2-13 to 1-02.
Edel Woods will organise the defence for Brookeborough while upfront Megan Wray Aimee Rose McManus can cause problems.
