Aghadrumsee manager Mickey Cadden says it would means the world to his players if they could go on and secure the Junior Championship title at Brewster Park on Sunday when they take on Newtownbutler.
The Magpies last won the title in 2018 and Cadden states that the young players in the squad are keen to prove that they have what it takes to go on and clinch the crown.
“I think it was 2018 that was the last time they were in the Junior Championship final and they won it that year.
“It is massive and we have been talking at training about how much it means to the players.
“They really want to win it and it would be a great achievement for them this year to win it and good steps forward for the future too.
“There is a few young lads coming through there from minors of a couple of years ago and we only have a few who are the wrong side of 30.
“Overall, it is a good mixture of good mature players and young fellas coming through who want to prove something,” said Cadden.
Aghadrumsee defeated Newtown at the semi-final stage of the competition but with a backdoor being available it offered the First Fermanaghs another bite of the cherry - one they gladly accepted.
And Cadden believes that Aghadrumsee will have to produce an even better performance if they are to come away with the win again on Sunday.
“I think maybe Newtown underestimated us a bit but I don’t think they will do it this time.
“We would think though that if we play as well again and maybe a wee bit better we could do it again.
“It is going to take the same and a bit more. We are really going to have to be on top of our game because Newtown are very experienced and have also a lot of good young players and we wouldn’t be underestimating them in no circumstances.
“It will take a hell of a game from us but I think that if we are on top of our game we can beat anybody, but we have to be on top of our game,” he said.
Cadden expects that there will be changes to the Newtown side from that semi-final encounter but is still hopeful of coming out on top.
“I don’t think Newtown will lineout the same as they did in the semi-final; I would imagine that they will make a few changes. but hopefully we can get our match ups right again and that should help us.
“I would expect a more intense game. I do think we can get at them in a few places that we did the last day but as I said I don’t think Newtown will be as complacent this time around,” he added.
And he believes that if they are in touch with ten minutes to go then they won’t be far away.
If we are in the hunt with ten or 15 minutes to go I don’t think we will be too far away.
“I think we will be able to put enough pressure on them to maybe make mistakes and hopefully we can capitalise on that,” Cadden concluded.
