Aghadrumsee Manager Mickey Cadden felt his side didn’t get the rub of the green as they lost out to Newtownbutler at Brewster Park on Sunday.

But the Magpies boss says he couldn’t have asked for any more from his charges on the day as they went down by three points.

“I can’t ask for any more out of the boys – they played out of their skins, and if we had a bit of luck it might have gone our way.

“We had one cleared off the line; there was the disallowed goal and we maybe didn’t get the rub of the green today. We were happy with the performance but it just didn’t go our way,” said Cadden.

Cadden did though rue missed chances, with a dozen wides over the course of the game, while he thought that they panicked late on as they tried to get back into the game.

“I think we kicked 12 wides and you can’t do that and expect to win a Championship final.

“I also felt we panicked a bit in injury time; we kicked a lot of ball away, maybe five or six possessions, when we still had time to get back into it.

“It was disappointing not to win it. The boys are gutted, because we put a lot into this,” he commented.

However, he says he was happy with the season as a whole.

“It was a brilliant season, the league was a bit of a mixed bag but if you had said we would be in the Championship final and in the mix-up going into the last five or ten minutes, then you would have been delighted with that.”

Break

The squad will now have a break but Cadden says they will then get down to work for next season and he is already planning to talk to some players who may be undecided about going back for another year.

“We have a few boys to talk to about coming back next year, and we’ll do that, but we have a great bench full of boys and we’ll work on something for next year and keep everything going,” he concluded.
