NFC Kesh 4 Killen Rangers 0
Ryan Campbell and Sean McDonagh both scored twice as NFC Kesh eased past Killen Rangers to move up to sixth in the league table.
The defeat leaves Killen still looking for their first league win of the season after eight games, but in contrast Kesh are now on a run of 11 games without defeat, with manager Ryan Campbell still unbeaten since assuming charge of the club. The latest victory was Kesh’s second successive 4-0 win, and Campbell was delighted with the performance.
“It was good to get the three points with a good solid performance,” he said. “I felt we were comfortable enough and we dominated the game. When we got the first two goals it seemed to dishearten them a bit. They rallied a bit in the second half, but they were pushing forward and leaving gaps for us and once we got the third it was just a matter of seeing it out.
“They are not a bad team, but they are in a rut at the minute that they can’t get out of it. I said to the boys before the game that they had to make sure they were at it, because Killen are in a false position, I think.
“They are a better team that what they are showing, so I was glad we started well and got an early goal. The third goal killed the game for us, and it was comfortable after that.”
It took just ten minutes for Kesh to take the lead when Danny Wilson collected a throw in and found Ryan Beatty. He cut across the edge of the penalty area before slipping Sean McDonagh through on goal, and his shot took a deflection that wrong footed Trevor Morrison in the Swifts goal.
Six minutes later Kesh had extended their advantage when they broke forward out of defence. McDonagh and Wilson combined to create space out wide and when McDonagh’s deep cross was diverted back across goal by Josh Flack, Campbell was on hand to fire in from close range.
Killen could only muster a couple of half chances before the half time interval, and shortly after the break Kesh went further ahead. Gareth Keys broke down the right wing and found Campbell inside the penalty area. His initial shot was blocked, but the rebound fell kindly for the striker and he fired home his 13th league goal of the season.
McDonagh completed the scoring when he beat the offside trap and drilled a low shot past the keeper to seal the points.
