Enniskillen Galaxy 4 Orchard Farm 5
Enniskillen Galaxy lost 5-4 for the second week in a row as Seamus Quigley scored all five of Orchard Farm’s goals to see them collect three points at the Lakeland Forum last weekend.
Orchard Farm manager Stewart Armstrong said after the game: “I think both teams knew the importance of the fixture. You could tell both teams were nervous, and we were just delighted to get over the line and get the three points.
“The big man has come up with the goods again. When Seamie is in that sort of form I don’t think there’s anyone better in the Fermanagh and Western for scoring goals.”
Farm took the lead after four minutes when Quigley slotted home a penalty after he was brought down by goalkeeper Eunan McCusker.
Both teams traded chances in the first half, but it took until the 40th minute to find the game’s next goal and it came through an equaliser from Galaxy’s Barry McIntyre after his first-time finish from Gavin McGinn’s cross brought the sides in at 1-1 at half time.
Quigley bagged two on either side of the hour mark to put his side 3-1 in front, however, Galaxy roared back into the game with substitute Gareth Dyke’s header after a cross to the back post before Eamon McHugh travelled up from left back to finish off a cross to square it at 3-3.
Gavin McGinn completed a frantic five minutes for the Enniskillen side as he buried a fantastic attacking move to swing things in his side’s favour.
But there was still another twist left in the tale as Quigley latched onto a long ball and headed the ball home to make it 4-4 before he bagged a fifth with another header to seal a memorable win. Enniskillen Galaxy manager Daniel McIntyre conceded his side are “firmly in a relegation battle” and added, “it’s up to the management and players to go out and get us out of this hole and get some points on the board before the break and then go again in January.”
Galaxy face a tricky away test at Castlederg United this weekend while Orchard Farm host Omagh Hospitals.
Farm manager Armstrong said: “Moving forward, we are a bit disappointed losing four players on Saturday with mid to long-term injuries.
“Willie Thompson looks to have done his ACL and that’s more or less his season over and we would like to wish Willie all the best in his recovery.”
