Derrychara United 3 Dergview Reserves 8
Derrychara are without a manager for the second time in less than two months after interim manager Damien Elliott stepped down following Saturday’s defeat to Dergview Reserves at the Lakeland Forum.
The Enniskillen side are still waiting for their first league win of the season, 12 games into their debut top flight campaign, and with Elliott following Andy Reilly out the manager’s exit door, it is still unclear who will assume charge of the club for this Saturday’s fixture against Enniskillen Rangers.
On the field of play it was another disappointing day for Derrychara, as they conceded eight goals against an in-form Dergview Reserves side who are now unbeaten in their last six matches.
It did not take the Castlederg team long to gain the upper hand, as they scored within a minute of kick-off when Philip Wallace burst through the defence on the right and slotted the ball low into the bottom corner of the net past Josh Brownlee.
Derrychara responded well to the concession of an early goal and matched Dergview for the next 30 minutes without carving out a clear-cut chance, but the visitors did add to their lead after half an hour when Brownlee dived full length to keep out a shot, but Ashley Lowry slotted home the rebound.
Five minutes later they added a high-class third goal when Lowry curled a free kick into the top corner of the net from 25 yards out.
Derrychara did pull a goal back three minutes later when Winston Moran capitalised on good work from Lee Glass to fire into the net, but Philip Wallace responded to get Dergview’s fourth.
The eventful end to the first half was complete a minute later when Craig Johnston smashed a long-range effort past Aaron Walsh to make it 4-2.
Early in the second half Derrychara threatened a comeback when Alex Brownlee headed in Lee Glass’ cross to reduce the deficit to one, but any hopes of a first win of the season were quickly extinguished.
Joe Breslin made it 5-3 within three minutes before Wallace completed his hat-trick.
Gary Henderson added a seventh and Joel Gibson completed the rout with the eighth goal in the final minute.
