• DERRYGONNELLY’S dream of becoming the first Fermanagh side to land the Seamus McFerran Cup ended in disappointment at the Athletic Grounds with the Harps simply outclassed by an exceptional Kilcoo side that ran out 16-point victors following a devastating display in the Ulster Club SFC Final.
• There was also Ulster final disappointment for Lisbellaw, who lost the Ulster IHC decider to Banagher in Omagh.
The sides were level at half time with Lisbellaw looking well positioned to kick on – but Banagher had the better of things in the second half to eventually run out 2-11 to 0-12 victors on the day.
• Also on the club scene, Kinawley Ladies’ bid for an All-Ireland Intermediate Championship Final spot was ended at the semi-final stage with the Brian Borus going down to a strong St. Sylvester’s side.

The new Erne boss saw his side suffer defeat in their opening Division Three game as they went down 1-14 to 0-08 to Antrim at Brewster Park.
The Saffrons pulled away in the second half as the home side faded in the contest.
This came on the back of two defeats in the McKenna Cup to Monaghan and Derry.
• Eoin Donnelly confirmed his retirement from inter-county football after a decade of representing Fermanagh, including eight years as Captain.
• Clogher Valley enjoyed major success in January as they landed a first-ever All-Ireland Junior Cup with victory over Ballyclare at Kingspan Stadium.
It was to be a late, late show from the Valley men to snatch the title as they hit an unanswered ten points in the final five minutes to clinch a 13-11 victory.
Trailing 11-3, Neil Henderson’s try and Paul Armstrong’s conversion made it 11-10 before Armstrong then had a 40-metre penalty that just carried the crossbar to seal a memorable win.
• Clogher were also going strong in the Ulster Junior Cup as they progressed to the last four, having to dig deep before eventually booking their place in the semi-final of the competition with a 20-17 win over Ballynahinch at the Cran.
• However, Covid-19-hit Enniskillen 1st XV exited the Junior Cup with a 28-10 defeat to Cooke at Shaw’s Bridge, Belfast.
• On the international front, Robert Baloucoune was named in the Ireland squad for the Six Nations

• Ballinamallard United opened the New Year with a 5-0 win over Queens at Ferney Park – a result that saw Harry McConkey’s side close to within six points of leaders, Newry City, but by the end of the month they were eight points adrift of Newry at the top end of the table
• A familiar face returned to Ferney Park in January as club legend Mark Stafford signed back for the club he began at.
Stafford was Captain when the Mallards entered the Premiership before enjoying great success at Linfield.
He cut short his stay at Glenavon to make a return to Ballinamallard.
