• Joanne Doonan and her Essendon Bombers team mates claimed the 2022 VFLW with a win over Southern State in the Grand Final.
• Dom Corrigan retired from his role in the PE Department at St. Michael’s after 37 years.
• Fermanagh Ladies progressed to the final of the All-Ireland Junior Championship with victory over Limerick. The final saw them take on Antrim at Croke Park, but a late free from the Saffrons denied Fermanagh the win as Antrim forced a replay.
• Denise Toner claimed double gold at the World Masters Athletics Championships in Finland. Denise won gold in the 800m and 1500m in the W40 section. Irene Clements also medalled, taking home bronze in the W60 10km.
• At the Irish Rowing Championships, ERBC won the Girls coxless Fours final comfortably and the Girls J18 8 by two lengths. The Boys’ J18 8 were narrowly pipped in a tight race by St. Joseph’s College, Galway.
• Nathan Timoney helped Ireland to bronze in the Men’s Fours at the World U-23 Rowing Championships in Varese.
• Lisnaskea’s Odhran Donaghy was part of the Oxford Brookes University crew that won the Temple Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta.
• ERBC Girls were pipped by last year’s winners, Headington School at Henley Royal Regatta.
• There were six wins for ERBC Juniors at the Junior 1K Classic in Cork.
• Erne Boxing Club’s Rhys Owens picked up gold at Haringey International Box Cup while Katie Rasdale and Amy Nolan won gold at the Monkstown International Box Cup.
• Seven Splitz gymnasts returned with gold from the NI Acrobatic Championships in Mallusk.
• Ballinamallard Manager Harry McConkey was delighted to welcome Shane McGinty back to the club while McConkey also signed goalkeeper Michael Lynch as they started preparations for the new season.
• At the Super Cup NI, Fermanagh Premiers made by history as they claimed the Globe title with victory over Tyrone, Alex Magee bagging the only goal of the game. The Junior side secured a first win in this section in six years by beating IDA Bermuda while they also produced a brave effort in losing 1-0 to Manchester United.
• Annabel Morrison and Jack O’Connor continued their brilliant years with a gold and silver each at the Irish National Juvenile Championships.
• Enniskillen Lakelanders returned from the Irish National Championships with five medals; Cora Rooney, Ellie Dunlop and Jamie Lannon securing the medals. At the same event, Ellie McCartney came away with two gold medals and a silver. At the Division Two National finals, Hayden James picked up a silver and a bronze, while Kate McDade also won bronze.
• Brendan Dolan won his first title of the year with victory at the Players Championship 21, beating Jonny Clayton in the final.
• Jon Armstrong and Brian Hoy claimed third place in the penultimate Junior WRC round in Estonia, leaving them joint top of the standing going into the final round in Greece.
• Alastair Fisher’s Irish Tarmac Championship hopes were ended after he crashed out of the Cork 20 International Rally.
• Irvinestown’s John Maguire clinched two Irish titles at the National Tennis Veterans Championships.
• In golf, David McQuade was the winner of Captain’s Day at Castle Hume, while Maire Newman was the winner of the Lady Captain’s Day at Castle Hume. Niall Braken was the winner of Captain’s Day at Clogher Valley, while Ann Harte won Lady Captain’s Day at the Slieve Russell, and Margaret Mullen was the winner of Lady Captain’s Day at Fintona.
• In cricket, North Fermanagh booked their place in the final of the NWCU League Cup with victory over Drummond.
