Bottom of the table Enniskillen Rovers will be left wondering what might have been as they missed a great opportunity to pick up their second win of the season.
Instead they had to settle for a share of the spoils against third-placed Newtownstewart at the Bawnacre last Saturday.
It was a cagey start for Rovers who had to withstand some early pressure from the visitors but they eventually grew into the game and took the lead.
Mark Sheridan found the net after 32 minutes minutes when he got on the end of a good ball from Codi Halligan.
The lead did not last long however as Newtownstewart were level just five minutes later when Gary Duffy scored.
However, Rovers would go in at the break ahead thanks to a Ronan McHugh goal to leave it 2-1 at the break.
With just over 10 minutes played of the second half Turlough McNamee levelled matters.
The game was end to end at this stage with both sides fully committed to trying to get the win.
Again it was Rovers who went in front with 15 minutes to go.
Jordan Deery volleyed home from the edge of the box to make it 3-2.
But back came Newtownstewart again and in the 79th minute
Tyler Stockton found the net after some pressure from the visiting side.
It set up a nervy final 10 minutes with Rovers creating a number of chances and in the final few minutes it looked like they were going to do so when they were awarded a penalty. However, Deery missed the spot kick and the game ended 3-3.
Looking back at the game Rovers Chairman, Adam Gannon, paid tribute to the team’s performance: “Credit to the whole team they put in some shift and it has given us something to build on.
“We look forward to our next game.”
