Ederney Amateur Boxing Club returned home with two Ulster champions recently from the finals event in Newtownstewart.
Charlie McNulty, who progressed to the Ulster final after winning the Mid Ulster title with two great performances that produced stoppage wins, faced a strong opponent from Dunfanaghy on the night and it was the Ederney boxer who prevailed as he claimed a 3-2 decision.
Also in action was Luke Duncan.
He came into the final on the back of the disappointment of losing the Irish U18 final to the very talented seven times Irish and current European champion Bobbi Flood.
But Luke dusted himself own and went on to produce a superb display. He forced his opponent to take two standing counts on his way to a unanimous decision as Duncan was crowned the Ulster U18 75kg champion for the second year in a row.
Both boxers will be back in action soon with the All Ireland next up for McNulty next month while Duncan will also return to the ring next month when he has the Irish Colleges’ Boxing Championships to look forward to.
