Teemore 2-11 Roslea 2-9
Teemore defeated Roslea by two points at St. Mary’s Park last Friday night, leaving them in top spot in group 2B of the Club Players’ Competition.
Goals from Nathan McAdam and Pauric Rice saw Teemore take in an 11-point lead at half time before Roslea clawed back with two goals of their own to leave a two-point difference between the sides in the end.
Teemore manager Tony Collins was pleased to see his side make it three wins from three.
“We had an excellent first half, we did everything right and we deserved the win in the end. We didn’t come out of the blocks in the second half and missed some chances for easy scores but in the end, we showed our resolve to get the game over the line.
“We have a final group game on June 1 against Maguiresbridge so now we will work towards that.”
Teemore began their scoring spree early as Oisin Murphy and Eoin McManus got the home side off the mark in the first few minutes.
Nathan McAdam scored the first goal of the game as he dispossessed his man from a short kick out and stayed cool in front of goal to finish.
McManus and Murphy again added scores while Shane Lynch responded for Roslea with a couple of points.
Teemore’s second goal came from a long high ball into the full forward from midfield and forward Pauric Rice was on hand to fist the ball into the net to open up a large half time gap between the sides.
Roslea reacted well at the start of the second half despite the disadvantage and got themselves back into the game when they were awarded a penalty by referee Barry Monaghan.
Lynch stepped up and converted before they bagged a second goal from Niall Beggan as he fisted in a ball across the goalmouth. However, Teemore held on with further scores from Pauric Rice and Aaron Lee.
Roslea manager Ciaran Murphy said after the game: “We started the game far too slow, we gave away two very soft goals in the first half. We left ourselves with a mountain to climb at half time, but we are pleased with how we reacted in the second half and nearly rescued something from the game.
“We have a good hard-working squad and with injuries clearing up we are looking forward to the season ahead.”
