Splitz Gymnastics Club has put themselves among the top Acro Clubs in Northern Ireland after having eight gymnasts crowned Northern Ireland Champions at the NI Acro Championships in Mallusk.
The Splitz acrobatic squad travelled to Flight Gymnastics Academy for the championships. Ten partnerships competed and the squad returned with an impressive haul of three golds, three silvers and two bronze medals. The partnerships that achieved gold are now the current Northern Ireland Champions.
The progress the gymnasts have made over the last year has been exponential. At this latest competition all 10 partnerships scored in the top four in Northern Ireland in each of their categories.
Results were as follows:
Grade 2 Womens Pair – Kaya Kremska and Lexi McElwaine (Silver)
Grade 2 Womens Trio – Lucy Rice, Sofia Allen and Lucia Allen (Gold) – Northern Ireland Champions
Grade 3 Womens Pair – Zara Fisher and Niamh Breen (Bronze)
Grade 3 Womens Trio – Caoimhe O’Reilly, Poppie Beddard and Charlotte Farrell (Silver)
Grade 4 Womens Pair – Alicia McElwaine and Laoise Fogarty (Fourth)
Grade 4 Mens Pair – Lorcan McManus and Dale Fisher (Gold) – Northern Ireland Champions
Grade 4 Womens Trio – Jessica Hanna, Aoife McGuigan and Eva-Rose McCluskey (Bronze)
Youth Womens Pair - Phoebe Rutledge and Emily Hanna (Silver)
Youth Womens Trio – Maeve Duffy, Naoise Kerrin and Mena O’Reilly (Fourth)
Grade 5 Trio – Riona Dooris, Sarah Rutledge and Kyra Duffy (Gold) – Northern Ireland Champions
The Grade 5 trio of Riona Dooris, Sarah Rutledge and Kyra Duffy had the added bonus of being awarded the overall highest technical score of the whole competition - this is the first time the club has achieved this.
This has now consolidated Splitz’ position as being amongst the top Acro clubs in Northern Ireland.
The club are working hard now towards their end of year display in early July and then a short rest before training re-commences with a view to forming new partnerships for another competitive year ahead.
