North Fermanagh Cricket Club (NFCC) 1st XI once again triumphed on Saturday, with a well worked win against Glendermott 2nd XI.
North Fermanagh won the toss and elected to bowl first. The bowling duo of David Mills and Chris Faris started well and restricted the Glendermott openers for the first few overs.
Garth Watson (64) then settled into his stride and initially with Owen Adair (8) and the A Lynch (18) put on a steady run rate.
After three impressive maiden overs, Faris was the first to strike in the eighth over with the dismissal of Adair.
The introduction of Rory Maguire only strengthened the NFCC attack.
His first wicket of the day, A Lynch, was caught by David Mills. Maguire soon added to his tally, this time with the wicket of Garth Watson, caught by David Smith.
Rory picked up his third of the day in his following over I Cooke (1) caught Nishant Bhardwaj. Rory’s fourth wicket of the day was Charlie Elder (48) caught again by David Smith.
A further two dismissals, a wicket for David Mills and a run out saw Glendermott on 169 for 8. Abhish Hari and Calvin Wiggan stood firm, with the visitors to Kesh reaching 184 for 8 of their 40 overs. Rory Maguire with the standout bowling figures with 4 wickets for 33 runs of his eight overs.
Fermanagh opened their batting with David Smith (57*) and Rawal Waseem (100*) The pair quickly got into their fast powerplay style with both batters striking the ball to the boundaries.
Rawal with the strike of the game, a six that not only cleared the rope but also the fence. The pair put on a real batting show for the spectators with a flurry of boundaries that saw them reaching the required target in the 23rd over. NFCC finishing the game on 185 for the loss of no wickets.
North Fermanagh 2nd XI headed to Bonds Glen on Saturday to take on their 2nd XI. After losing the toss, NFCC were put into bat and after the loss of an early wicket, Sam Galloway (23) tried to steady the ship. Usama Chaudhry (12) Qaisar (54) and Ben Duffy (11) added runs, but the Fermanagh men struggled against the Bonds bowling attack. NFCC finishing on 153 from their 30 overs.
In reply, the experienced John Long (55) and Ben Haslett (12) started quickly. Haslett was the first to be dismissed, caught by Geoff Hawkes in slip from the bowling of Basit. Long soon followed his partner back to the clubhouse after being bowled by Basit, a great ball that cut in and cleared the middle stump. Jonathan Haslett (8) was the final Bonds Glen wicket to fall caught by Stefan McCusker again of the bowling of Basit. Bonds Glen reaching their target of 156 for the loss of 3 wickets in the 19th over.
The North Fermanagh 1st XI welcome St Johnston to the NFCC Grounds, Kesh next weekend, July 1. Whilst the 2nd XI are again on the road, away to Burndennett.
Training continues Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6.30pm at the ground in Kesh. Anyone interested in participating are welcome to attend and give cricket a go, experience is not required, and all are very welcome.
