Kinawley 4-13 Teemore 1-12
Kinawley made it an U15 Feile and Championship double after they saw off Teemore in the U15 A Championship final last Thursday night.
The Brian Borus were maybe fortunate to be level at the interval with Tomas Cathcart’s goal leaving it 1-04 to 0-07 at the interval.
Nip and tuck
The game remained nip and tuck in the opening spell of the second half but Kinawley went on to finish the game strongly as they ran out 4-13 to 1-12 victors at the final whistle.
Teemore made a bright start to the contest as they raced into a 0-05 to 0-01 lead.
Ciaran Shannon (3), Aodan Maguire and Eoghan Creighan all landed points for the Shamrocks while Kinawley’s sole response arrived from Cathcart.
Cathcart was to have a big bearing on the game and he knocked over two points before finding the back of the Teemore net as Kinawley turned a four point deficit into a one point advantage.
Missed chances
Teemore, who missed a number of chances in the first half, levelled though Shannon before Cathcart and Cahir Drumm traded points to leave it all to play for in the second half.
Kinawley hit the front again at the start of the second half as Cathcart bagged his second goal of the contest and it was tit for tat over the next period as Shannon, Alex McCaffrey and Lorcan McGrath pointed for Teemore while Cathcart and Maguire registered for Kinawley.
The Shamrocks were back on level terms when McCaffrey converted from the spot and it remained a well contested encounter as Fionan Reilly and Aodan Maguire swapped points.
Thomas Fitzpatrick then nudged Teemore back ahead but a Cathair Maguire goal for the Brian Borus put them in the driving seat and they pushed on from there to claim the win.
Eoin McTernan added a fourth goal and with Aidan Leonard, McTernan, Cathcart, Maguire and Ben Melanaphy tagging on points they pulled away to seal the title.
