Rawal Waseem was the star once again, as North Fermanagh (NFCC) 1st XI kept up their great start to the new North-West Cricket League season against St Johnston 2nds.

NFCC won the toss and elected to bowl. The Kesh bowlers struck quickly, Maroske (0), Lapsley (11) and Antony (12) losing their wickets early in the match.

The rest of the St Johnston batters struggled against the precise bowling with only Kemps (17) being able to get into double figures. St Johnston finishing on 74 all out from 35 overs.

Stand out bowling figures from David Mills, picking up three wickets from his eight overs for just 17 runs.

In reply, North Fermanagh opened with father and son Rashid (12) and Rawal Waseem (46*). The pair quickly saw out the required runs with Rawal peppering the boundary with a flurry of exquisite shots.

This was an excellent all-round team performance and proves that all the hard work and dedication in training is starting to pay off on the field.

North Fermanagh 2nds headed to Burndennett to take on their 2nd team. Captain Sam Galloway won the toss and decided to bat first. Sam (29) and Keiran Shead (0) opened the batting but struggled to deal with the Burndennett attack. Ben Duffy (11), Duncan Robertson (14) and Dave Hardy (8) all added runs, Ahmad Iqbal (18*) and Stefan Bukowski (17*) saw out the final overs. NFCC finishing on 112 for 6 from 30 overs.

Burndennett batters, Ben Logue (30*), Paul Murphy (44) and E McGettigan (21*) scored quickly and reached the required runs target in the 40th over. The NFCC fielders attempted to restrict the batters but well controlled shots seemed to find gaps in the field with ease. Burndennett finishing on 114 for the lose of only two wickets.

Next the North Fermanagh 2nd team welcome Letterkenny to Kesh, on Saturday July 8.
