Fermanagh Premiers 0 Manchester United 2
In their third game in the Super Cup, Fermanagh Premier side came up against English giants, Manchester United in Coleraine on Wednesday.
Despite battling hard, the Fermanagh men fell to a 2-0 defeat with goals late in either sealing the win for United.
Shea Lacey threatened early for United, with his effort sailing over the bar.
United enjoyed the lion's share of possession throughout the opening half, with Fermanagh utilising their speed on the break.
Adam Cathcart, assist provider against Dundalk, broke down the right and played in the onrushing Dan O'Connor, with the ball just in front of the dangerman.
The Red Devils enjoyed lots of the ball without really troubling Alex McClelland for much of the half.
Adam Armstrong curled a deep free-kick into the United box, with O'Connor getting a looping contact on the ball but it curled wide of the mark.
Soon after a dangerous Tadhg Britton free-kick appeared to touch United player last before rolling agonisingly wide of Cameron Byrne-Hughes' goal, but a goal kick was awarded.
Kelan Kernaghan epitomised everything positive about Fermanagh in the opening half while Lacey continued to threaten for United and at one stage skipped inside along end line but Britton and Armstrong ushered the danger away.
Then Cathcart thought he had won a penalty, but his appeals were waved away, with Fermanagh the more dangerous side as the midway point of the half approached, but neither goalkeeper troubled.
Lacey threatened from a couple of free-kicks as United became more dangerous.
Alex McClelland had to get a leg to a dangerous cross as the game started to open up.
With five minutes to play a ball in behind saw Siem Abraha in on goal but McClelland saved well for corner, from which United broke the deadlock.
A flicked ball found its way to Majid Balogun who finished from close range to go into half-time a goal to the good.
Into the second half, Fermanagh started out positively, Dan O'Connor pressing high early on, forcing United to speed up their play from the back.
The second half followed a similar pattern to the first, United dominating possession without necessarily opening up the Fermanagh backline on too many occasions.
For Fermanahh, a deep free-kick by Jamie Edwards bounced awkwardly in the box but goalkeeper Bryne-Hughes was able to gather.
Fitzgerald drove to the end line for United, jockeyed by Oisin Keenan, but his cross was cleared for a cornerkick by Edwards, with the subsequent danger cleared.
Substitute Neithan Barbosa, a bright spark on the right for United throughout the second period flashed a cross in but Edwards once again cleared.
Goalscorer Balogun saw an acrobatic overhead kick easily dealt with by McClelland.
Fermanagh worked hard for an equaliser, but it was United who grabbed the crucial final goal of the tie with five minutes to play.
Balogun turned provider, crossing under pressure, finding the feet of Bendito Mantato, who slotted home from 12 yards to seal victory against a dogged, determined Fermanagh side.
