James McKenna has stepped away from his role as joint manager of Enniskillen Town citing work commitments for his decision.
He does though intend to continue playing and will make himself available for selection for manager Rory Judge although he is currently out with an injury.
“There has been no fall-out or anything like that, it is simply down to work commitments,” said McKenna, who took over the running of the family business, The Manor House Hotel with his sister Rosemary in the summer.
“Since myself and Rosemary took over the hotel it just consumes you and I also have three young children at home while I’m also involved with the youth at Town and I just felt that something had to give as I was not able to give any of them the time they deserved,” he added.
However, he is not walking away from the first team and still hopes to play if needed.
“I have a bit of an injury at the minute but when that clears up, and if I’m needed, I have told Rory that I will help out whenever I can. I haven’t gone anywhere, I’ll still be about, I’m still at training and at matches but I do feel that personally, it is a weight of my shoulders,” said McKenna.
It has been a tough start to the season for Town but McKenna is adamant that they will turn things around when they get their full squad back available.
“It might not feel like it at the minute but Town will be fine, there is a really good squad when everybody is out and they will be strong when the GAA is over, I have no doubt about that,” he said.
